This event\u00a0highlighted Quebec\u2019s contributions to UNESCO.Ms. Line Beauchamp, representative of Quebec\u00a0at the UNESCO Canadian delegation, gave a\u00a0dynamic overview that highlighted how UNESCO\u2019s\u00a0work can help develop policies in Quebec, how\u00a0to better understand its issues and challenges\u00a0in Quebec, and the important contribution of the\u00a0different Quebec players in furthering Quebec\u2019s\u00a0participation in UNESCO.<\/p>\n<p>Opening remarks were provided by Mr. St\u00e9phane\u00a0Paquin, ENAP professor and GERIQ Director, and\u00a0Mr. \u00c9ric Th\u00e9roux, assistant deputy minister for\u00a0Francophone and Multilateral Policies and Affairs\u00a0at the Ministry of International Relations and\u00a0Francophonie.<\/p>\n<p>This meeting was also the opportunity to celebrate\u00a0the 96th birthday of Mr. Paul G\u00e9rin-Lajoie, an iconic\u00a0figure in the R\u00e9volution tranquille, credited with\u00a0reforming Quebec education when he created the\u00a0Ministry of Education in 1964.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On February 16, 2016, the UNESCO Chair in\u00a0Applied Research for Education in Prison took part\u00a0in the Rendez-vous event at the ENAP organizedby the Groupe d\u2019\u00e9tude et de recherche sur\u00a0l\u2019international et le Qu\u00e9bec (GERIQ).
